Hosta 'Qualifying Queen'

This hybrid of H. kiyosumiensis x H. pycnophylla was originated by Hajime Sugita of Japan and was registered by Peter Ruh of Ohio in 1999. It grows into a large size hosta about 23 inches in height with a spread of around 62 inches. The foliage starts the spring as a blue-green but changes to dark green by the end of the summer. Its leaves are slightly cupped and have a very long, thin tip. Lavender flowers bloom on long, drooping scapes in August.
