this small size (7 inches high by 13 inches wide) cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Neat
Splash' ×
H. 'Riptide'.
 The
foliage is moderate green (N138A RHS
Colour Chart) with
streaked variegation, mottling and some clear areas of
light yellow green (145D
RHS
Colour Chart). Its ovate leaves
are slightly wavy, slightly corrugated and dull on top.
The petioles have deep red speckles that extend up into
the leaf blade and they have the same streaking as the
leaf. Pale lavender flowers with translucent margins
bloom in July on scapes 7 to 12 inches tall followed by
viable seeds. The
registration materials state: "...Streaked plant
with red speckles on the petioles that go up into the leaf-back. Leaves also
have a white back and some “frosting” on the front."
 We
don't know if there is any connection, but there was a native American Chief Red
Cloud.
