An H. 'Fortunei
Gigantea' seedling, this cultivar was registered in 1999 by
Peter Ruh on
behalf of
Eunice V. Fisher who introduced it in 1961. A large (25 inches high)
plant with leaves that have a deep lobe at the base and a long,
thin tip. Pale lavender flowers in late June to mid July.
According to
The Hostapedia by
Mark Zilis
(2009), this cultivar "...has become a rare commodity in
collections and that is a shame. It offers attractive blue-green
foliage and a good show of flowers in July...It is one of the
few blue-leaved seedlings to originate out of 'Fortunei Gigantea'."
Similar cultivars include H. 'Gray Piecrust' and H. 'Herkules'.
