Dr. Ed Elslager of Michigan registered this hybrid of H. 'Dorothy Benedict' × H. hypoleuca in 2000. It forms a
large size mound about 23 inches high
with a spread of around 45 inches. The foliage color is highly
variable with a dark green base color and streaks of yellow to
creamy white. Some leaves are
green with a white marginal
variegation while others have a white medial (center)
variegation pattern. Its foliage is slightly corrugated,
slightly cupped and has thick substance. Pale lavender flowers
bloom in July.
Although
the spelling of this cultivar is officially "Stellar", I wonder
if it is either a misspelling or a play on words for this novel.
Oh, well.
