Hosta 'Subterranean Pool'

This cultivar is a hybrid of H. 'Urajiro Hachijo' × H. 'Blue Clown' which was registered by Don Dean of Minnesota in 1999. It is a medium size plant about 11 inches high with a spread of around 32 inches with foliage that is intensely blue-green. The leaves are slightly twisted, slightly cupped, moderately wavy and moderately corrugated with thick substance. Lavender, bell-shaped flowers with translucent margins bloom in Minnesota from August into September. It sets viable seeds.

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term urajiro as white-backed or white underside.

This is a sibling to H. 'Titanium'.
