Hosta 'Sweetness'

This is one of those cases where there are two hostas with the same name. One is registered (shown above) and, therefore, the "official" version of H. 'Sweetness' while the other is a non-registered plant and will need to be renamed.

A tissue culture sport of H. 'So Sweet', this fast growing cultivar was registered by Mark Zilis of Illinois in 2003. It is a large size hosta about 22 to 28 inches high with a spread of around 46 to 60 inches. The bright green foliage is slightly shiny on top, ovate, moderately wavy and slightly corrugated. Its fragrant, very pale lavender flowers bloom from August into September.

Hosta Helper will call this plant 'Sweetness' (Zilis)

Ron Livingston of Michigan has a non-registered plant by the same name. It is a seedling selection that grows to a medium size about 16 inches high with a spread of 30 inches. This plant has light green foliage and bears white flowers in August.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009) "Since the 'So Sweet' sport named 'Sweetness' was registered with The American Hosta Society (in 2003 ), Ron Livingston's plant will have to be renamed."

Hosta Helper will call this plant 'Sweetness' (Livingston)
