This cultivar is a hybrid of (H. montana 'Aureomarginata' × H. venusta) x H. 'Maruba Iwa' that was originated by Roy Herold of Massachusetts and registered on his behalf by Kevin Walek (Hosta Registrar) in 2009. The medium size (13 inches high by 34 inches wide), mound has heart shaped leaves that have a white sheen on the bottom and slightly reddish petioles. In early August, it bears lavender flowers.

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term iwa as rock, Iwa Gibōshi or H. longipes and the term maruba as round leaf or round-leafed.
