Hosta 'Tambourine'

A hybrid of (H. 'Resonance' × a seedling) × H. 'Halcyon', this cultivar was registered by Wm and Eleanor Lachman of Massachusetts in 1987. The large size (22 inches high) mound has slightly wavy, slightly corrugated leaves with reddish, purple dots on the petioles. Pale purple flowers bloom from late July into mid-August.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...originally registered as 'Tamborine' due to a typographical error...This is a classic, white-margined Lachman cultivar. Its fast growth rate makes it suitable for ground cover purposes..."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Leaves assume a blue-green overtone if grown in good light but not direct sun. Increases rapidly. Makes a good ground cover...The tightly packed leaf mound causes the edges to turn up."
