'Time Tunnel'
 

This tissue culture sport of H. 'Frances Williams' was originated by Marc Laviana of Sunny Border Nurseries in Connecticut and registered by Alex Malloy of New York in 2001. It was granted a U.S. plant patent in 2006.

The medium size plant grows to around 17 inches in height with a spread of around 36 inches. Its leaves are very broadly ovate, heavily corrugated and have thick substance. The near white flowers bloom from mid-June into July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "The margins...are significantly wider than those of 'Frances Williams'...it does exhibit some spring desiccation burn and needs to be sited properly." (see below)






United States Patent: PP16435   (2006)

Abstract: A new cultivar of Hosta sieboldiana, ‘Time Tunnel’, characterized by its variegated foliage of green centers and wide margins that emerge chartreuse, change to a bright gold, and mature to a creamy gold color. The margins of the foliage of ‘Time Tunnel’ are much wider than its parent plant, ‘Frances Williams’, comprising about 50% of the leaf area.
