This semi-upright cultivar from an unidentified originator in Japan was registered by Kevin Walek (Hosta Registrar) in 2009 and re-registered with new data in 2018 as being from unidentified parentage. It grows into a large size hosta about 24 inches in height with a width of 40 inches with yellow foliage.

The leaves are narrowly ovate, wavy, shiny on top with a moderate bloom on the bottom and smooth texture. Pale purple flowers bloom on scapes 38 inches tall from late July into August. Seed set was unknown at the time of registration.

The registration materials state: "...emerge almost fluorescent yellow changing to yellow with a bluish cast..."

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "The name is supposed to translate to "spring bird", but in that case it would be spelled 'Uguisu'...probably a seedling of H. ventricosa. 'Uguis'..."
