Hosta 'Greased Pole'

Originated by Jeff Moore of Wisconsin, this non-registered cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Katsuragawa Beni' × H. 'Flor Roja'. It is a medium size hosta with shiny, pointed, light green foliage. The petioles and flower scapes are dark purple. It bears pale purple flowers on very tall scapes.

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term beni as red or rouge and the the term -gawa or -kawa as river.
