Hosta 'Valley's Whale Rider'

This very upright cultivar was registered by Jeroen Linneman of the Netherlands in 2018. It is a seedling of H. 'Neptune' × H. 'Big John' which becomes a giant size hosta about 32 inches high by 32 inches wide. The blue-green foliage is ovate, slightly twisted, deeply wavy, heavily rippled and has a glaucous bloom on top and bottom. Near white flowers on scapes up to 39 inches tall bloom from mid-August into September followed by viable seeds.

The registration materials state: "...Big thick wavy blue leaves. Very fertile and good breeder...holds blue color throughout the season..."
