Wild Ginger

At one time, there were about 85 species in this genus. However, as taxonomists tend to do, they have been rethinking things since the use of DNA evidence has become more common and have now moved many of these species into other genera. Currently about 17 species are still considered part of Asarum. The derivation of the name is unknown.
