Climbing vines, mostly deciduous, with alternate leaves either 3 or 4 lobed and which turn a brilliant scarlet in the fall. These climb by attaching rootlike holdfasts to any available means of support. At least 2 of the species (P. quinquifolia and P. tricuspidata) are widely used in landscape plantings.

P. quinquefolia Virginia Creeper
P. tricuspidata Boston Ivy, Japanese Creeper
