This is an erect-growing, slender-branching, round-topped shrub that prefers moist situations but grows well in average soil in sun or partial shade.

The small white flowers are not very showy. It is used in shrubbery borders, masses and naturalistic plantings.

Deep green color during the summer, turning a rich crimson in the autumn.
