Horizontal habit of branching with branches seeming to be borne in layers or tiers.
30 to 45 feet in the landscape.
Small whitish flowers are borne in flat clusters, 3-7 inches wide and resemble the flowers of C. Alba.

This and C. alternifolia are the two Cornus species with alternate leaves
Lustrous leaves turn red in the fall
 
 
Bluish-black berries
 
 

  • ‘Variegata’ has an irregular, creamy white border, the leaves being long, narrow and lanceolate, usually less than 1 1/2” wide, and often unequally sided and somewhat deformed.

Supposed to be less affected by anthracnose than the native species of dogwood.
