Various shades of yellow, orange, or red. The pendulous flowers, 2 inches long, are clustered at the terminal of a stout, naked stem. The flowers have a slight skunk-like odor so plant them away from the house or sidewalk. A drop of nectar forms near the tip of each petal, appearing to defy the laws of gravity.
