Strongly stoloniferous perennial of upland regions of Central Europe. This is one of 8 subspecies within H. pilosella.
 
Flower heads contain only yellow ray flowers. Seed production is through the process of apomixis.
 
Distinguished from other subspecies by dense star-shaped (stellate) hairs that give the leaves their gray appearance. Stems contain milky sap or latex.
 
 
 

The term, velutinum, means velvety.
