Lateral branches of this clinging vine may extend as much as 3 feet from the wall to which it clings by means of its small rootlike holdfasts all along the stems. Rich shreddy cinnamon red bark.
 
 
 
 
 

Not be confused with Schizophragma hydrangeoides which it resembles because the leaves of the hydrangeas are lustrous above and the leaf margin is regularly serrate, while the leaves of Schizophragma are not lustrous and they are markedly coarse dentate.
