Care and Culture of Iris - Iris for the Home Landscape

Erect habit - Beardless
18-24 inches foliage and flowering stem to 3 feet, with an 18 inches spread.
Flowers are often at least 6 inches wide, in colors from white to blue, purple. reddish-purple and lavender-pink. The flowers are often veined, marbled, or speckled with a contrasting color. The perianth is divided into 6 segments. The outer 3 segments (falls) are very large and nearly horizontal while the 3 inner segments (standards) are short and also resemble the falls. This creates a wide, flat flower and this group is sometimes called the “flat-top iris.” The falls are beardless.
June-July
Stems are often branched, leaves are sword-shaped, 2 feet or more long, with a prominent raised midrib.
