Clump forming perennial of wet meadows, swamps and shorelines.
 
Flowers with a bright yellow spot on the sepal and shallowly pitted seeds.
 
 
 
 
 
Very similar to Iris versicolor but differing from it by having leaves that typically overtop the flowers and a prominent bright yellow spot on the sepal and shallowly pitted seeds.
