Onopordum acanthium Scotch Thistle aka Cotton Thistle, Queen Mary's Thistle     Coarse, prickly biennial of sandy waste ground.       Spiny edged leaves and cottony tomentum, winged stems and spine tipped phyllaries surrounding the purple or white disk flowers.
