Low spreading mound
6-8 inches tall and 12 inches wide
Flowers showy, about 1 inch across, in copious close cymose clusters. Five round-tipped or star-shaped petals may be white, pink, salmon, purple, yellow and bicolored.
Summer to frost.
Lowermost leaves opposite, others alternate, broad-ovate to oblong and lanceolate, 1-3 inches long. The leaf apex is acute and mucronate base is narrow or clasping.
Leaf spot, powdery mildew, potato flea beetle and mites are occasional problems.
Sun to partial shade in well-drained, moist soil.

  • 'Globe Mixture' - 8 inches, rounded compact plant, very uniform growth habit, mixed colors.
  • Palona Series - Very compact and floriferous selection with earlier flowers, 6-8 inches tall.
  • Petticoat Mix - Mix of colors on compact plants 6 inches tall.
  • 'Twinkle' - 8 inches, smaller star-shaped flower with pointed petals blooms early and continues well into the summer, mixed colors.
