Clump-forming plant with stiff, erect stems.
2-4 feet
white, pink, red, blue and purple. Huge clusters (10-12 inches) of disk-shaped flowers (1 inch across) arranged in large panicles.

Opposite, leaves thin, veiny, oblong-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, 3-5 inches long, pointed, tapering to the bases the upper ones partially clasping, the margins minutely bristly-ciliate.
