Tall upright perennial. The species is 2-4 feet and some cultivars are 7 feet tall.
The yellow flower heads are 3-4 inches wide and have drooping ray flowers. The heads are on long peduncles that terminate the stems and branches.
Mid to late summer.
The bright green leaves are entire or slightly toothed and arranged alternately. Basal leaves are ovate to lanceolate oblong and petioled. The upper leaves are oblong to lanceolate and sessile. Leaves are 3-6 inches long.
 
 
  • 'Herbstsonne' - Large single yellow flowers, with green ray flowers. It is 7 feet tall and may need staking.
