3-4 feet tall plant with a similar spread.
The ruby red flowers are arranged in 4 flowered whorls on a terminal spike-like inflorescence. The corolla is 1˝ long with a reflexed lower lip.
Late summer until frost.
Opposite leaves. 2-4 inches long, ovate to lanceolate shaped, apex is acuminate. Margins are serrate. The square stems and leaves are pubescent to hairy. The crushed foliage has a distinct pineapple fragrance.
