Large shrub or small tree
10 to 20 or 30 feet
Yellowish white borne in 5-rayed, flat topped cymes about 5 to 8 inches wide

Opposite, compound pinnate, 4 to 12” long, leaflets 3 to 7, usually 5. Leaves have a disagreeable odor when bruised.
 
 
 
Lustrous black in September.
 
 
  • ‘Aurea’ - offers bright yellow new foliage that fades as the summer progresses
     
  • ‘Laciniata’ (f. laciniata) -  finely dissected green leaflets not unlike those of Acer palmatum var. dissectum
     
  • ‘Filigree Lace’ - fine textured shrub
