Pale yellow marked with purple and arranged in panicles
Summer
Leaves are arranged in dense basal rosettes, leaves obovate-oblong to narrow spatulate, to 1˝ long. The leaf apex has encrusted white teeth.
 
 
  • var. baldensis - White flowers, 2-3 inches tall.
  • var. lutea - YeIIow flowers, 6-10 inches tall.
  • 'Paradoxa' - White flowers, blue leaves.
  • var. rosea - Bright pink flowers.

 
Saxifraga is derived from the Latin words saxum, rock and franga, to break. This species of plant, when grown in a rock crevice, was supposed to be capable of breaking rocks.
