20 to 30 feet tall by 15 to 20 feet wide. May grow much larger in the wild. Very slow growing.
monoecious with the female flowers borne at the terminal end of the branches while the male flowers are borne in 1 inch long racemes.
 
See the illustration above. Dark green and glossy. They persist for about 3 years.
 
 
Young stems are green and turn brown later. Flexible.
Cones are upright, 2 to 4 inches long by 1 to 2 inches wide. They are green at first and then brown the second year.
