Flowers ˝ across, in large dense corymbose cymes 3-6 inches wide. Flower colors are pink, red, or white. Butterflies are often attracted to the flowers to gather nectar.

Sedum is from sedo, to sit, which refers to the manner in which the plants affix themselves to rocks or walls. The common name, stonecrop. refers to the ability of many species to flourish on stoney ledges.
