Hybrid Origin  (North America)

 
Species is 4-6 feet tall - hybrids are closer to 2-3 feet tall and 18 inches wide
The small yellow flower heads (⅛-1/12 inches) are borne in large panicles with 1-sided, recurving branches.
Midsummer to late fall.
Alternate leaves, linear lanceolate to elliptic-lanceolate, 2-5 inches long. Leaves can be glabrous or scabrous above and often pubescent below. Margins are serrated.
 
 
  • 'Cloth of Gold' - Dense, deep yellow flowers, 18-24 inches tall.
  • 'Crown of Rays' - Bright yellow flowers, stiff columnar clump, 24 inches tall.
  • 'Golden Baby' - Golden yellow plumes. 24 inches tall.
  • 'Golden Fleece' - Grows less than 18 inches tall and has a spreading profile. In late summer and early fall, the much-branched plant is covered with bright yellow flowers.
  • 'Goldenmosa' - Large yellow flower heads, early bloomer, 30 inches tall.
  • 'Golden Shower' - Clear yellow flowers borne in horizontal to drooping panicles, 36-48 inches tall.
  • 'Golden Thumb' - Clear yellow, fluffy flower inflorescence, 12 inches tall.
  • 'Golden Wings' - Deep yellow flowers, similar to the species at 5-6 feet tall.
  • Peter Pan' - Canary-yellow flowers, late flowering, 24-36 inches tall.
  • 'Lemore' - Primrose-yellow flowers, 30-36 inches tall.
 
Solidago has been wrongly accused of causing hay fever. Actually ragweed, Ambrosia, is the real culprit.
