Symphytum x rubrum Comfrey 3-8 Hybrid Origin Mounded perennial 18 inches tall,  spreading to 18 inches. The crimson flowers are tubular ½-1 inch long and are borne in a scorpioid, racemose cyme. Late spring to early summer. Alternate leaves, ovate-lanceolate to Ianceolate, to 3 inches long. The leaves are very hispid and have ciliate margins.         S. x rubrum is listed as a possible hybrid between the red flowered S. officinale 'Coccineum' and S. grandiflorum.
