Perfect, pinkish flowers borne solitary in the axils.
May to June.
Alternate, simple, evergreen, 1/4 to 3/4” long, 1/8 to 1/3” wide. Evergreen. Slow to medium growth rate.
Reddish-purple
 
 
Red berry 1/2 to 3/4 inch in diameter.
 
Members of the genus, Vaccinium, generally need an acid soil in the range of pH 4.5 to 5.5 to thrive.
