Vaccinium vitis-idaea Cowberry 3   Northern Europe and Northern Asia   Up to 10 feet. White or pinkish in sub-terminal racemes. May to June. Alternate, simple, oval to obovate, 3/8 to 1” long, half as wide. Dark green with lower surface sprinkled with black dots.       Dark red berry with an acidic, bitter taste.   Members of the genus, Vaccinium, generally need an acid soil in the range of pH 4.5 to 5.5 to thrive.
