Very dense shrub.
10 to 15 feet tall.
White flowers on 7-rayed cymes that are 3 to 4.5 inches in diameter. Fragrant.
 
Opposite, simple, evergreen, leathery, ovate to roun­dish, 3 to 6” long, half to as wide. Leaves are dark, glossy green on top but paler on the bottom with small, black dots. Evergreen in warm zones.
 
 
 
Red drupe.
 
 
  • 'Chippewa' - hybrid of V. japonicum x V. dilatatum with semi-evergreen foliage.
     
  • 'Huron' - hybrid of V. lobophyllum x V. japonicum with semi-evergreen foliage and many flowers.
