Grown as a shrub or tree with a single trunk
15 to 18 feet in the landscape but up to 30 feet with a 6 to 10 foot spread.
White to cream colored. Large, flat clusters of small flowers borne on flat-topped cymes 3 to 3.5 inches in diameter.
Mid-May
Opposite, simple, ovate to elliptic-obovate, 2 to 4” long, half as wide.
Purplish red but not showy.
 
 
Fruits (drupes) go through a colorful change from green to yellowish to red to blue sometimes the 4 colors show simultaneously on the same cluster.
Susceptible to powdery mildew in shaded areas.
