Upright to rounded shrub.
12 to 15 feet high and wide.
White flowers borne on flat-topped 3 to 4 inch wide cymes on 1 to 2 inch stalks. Has purple anthers to differentiate it from the yellow anthers of V. opulus.

Leaves are lobed and slightly longer than those of V. opulus.
Reddish autumn color
 
Glabrous, somewhat corky compared to V. opulus and V. trilobum.
Red drupe
 
 
  • 'Flavum' - yellow-fruited variety  Similar to V. opulus 'Xanthocarpum' except that it may be slightly more colorful and more vigorous.
