Most
ornamental landscape plants need a
well-drained soil to thrive. The roots of
plants generally need to be surrounded by
free oxygen in order to grow and multiply.
If the pore spaces are filled with water,
they will struggle and die.
However,
there are a number of plants that developed
in wetlands or near swamps that can live and
even thrive with their roots in water some
or all of the time. Listed below are plants
adapted to these conditions.
