Hosta 'Academy Fangorn Forest'

Registered by Steve Chamberlain of New York in 2003, this large size (19 inches high by 33 inches wide) cultivar is a seedling of an F1 seedling of H. 'Ginko Craig'.

An upright growing hosta, its foliage is medium green, heavily rippled, lanceolate, moderately wavy and slightly shiny on top. The petioles are green with red spotted centers. Tubular shaped flowers bloom from mid-July into August on scapes up to 51 inches tall.

J.R.R. Tolkien reference: Fangorn Forest was a deep, dark woodland that grew beneath the southern Misty Mountains, under the eastern flanks of that range. It gained notoriety as the habitat of the Ents in the Third Age.
