Hosta 'Academy Isengard'

This cultivar is a seedling of an H. 'Ginko Craig' F1 seedling and it was registered in 2003 by Steve Chamberlain of New York. It is a large size plant about 20 inches high with a spread of around 42 inches. The foliage is medium green and slightly rippled. Pale purple flowers bloom from late July into September.

According to a Google search, "In J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional universe of Middle-earth, Isengard, a translation of the Sindarin Angrenost, was a large fortress. Both names mean "Iron fortress", though Isengard has a second meaning of "West Guard"."
