Hosta 'Apache'

This non-registered cultivar is a sport of H. 'Stealth' which is part of Van Wade's American Indian Series. The leaves are green with a gold colored medial (center) variegation. This cultivar forms a medium size mound of ovate, slightly wavy, occasionally cupped and slightly corrugated foliage. It produces medium lavender flowers from late July into August but rarely forms seed pods.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "As a sport of 'Stealth', which is a sport of 'Minuteman', 'Apache' should bear some resemblance to 'Minuteman' in foliage shape, texture, etc. but it does not. Regardless, it becomes a beautiful mound of gold-centered foliage and seems to have a fairly good growth rate."
