Hosta 'Blazer'

This is one of those cases where there are two hostas with the same name. One is registered (shown above) and, therefore, the "official" version of H. 'Blazer' while the other is a non-registered plant and needs to be renamed.

This cultivar is a seedling of a seedling of H. 'Galaxy' which was registered by Dr. Ed Elslager of Michigan in 2005. The hosta grows to a medium size about 11 inches high with blue-green foliage that has a pale yellow marginal variegation. Pale lavender flowers bloom from mid-July into August.

Similar cultivars include H. 'Yellow Splash Rim'.

Hosta Helper will call this plant 'Blazer' (Elslager)

Ron Livingston of Michigan originated this non-registered cultivar of unidentified parentage. It is a small size (9 inches high by 21 inches wide) plant with green foliage that has white and yellow streaked variegation. Many of the ovate shaped leaves stabilize into a green color with white marginal variegation.

Hosta Helper will call this plant 'Blazer' (Livingston)
