Hosta 'Blue Whirls'

A 1978 registration by Paul Aden, this large (23 inches high) cultivar has ovate, blue-green foliage with thick substance. Bell-shaped white flowers are borne on 28 inch tall scapes. It is a seedling of H. 'Blue Vision' and is considered a "Tardiana" type hosta.

The Hosta Handbook by Mark Zilis (2000), says that this plant falls into a category of "cultivars that exhibit many Tardiana traits but are not a part of Eric Smith's original group."

Similar cultivars include H. 'Blue Arrow'.

Seedlings include H. 'Birds of Happiness' and H. 'Golden Gate'.
