Wade and Gatton Nursery - USA - Gardens, Parks, Squares and Open Spaces

This wonderful nursery was started by the grandfather of the current owner, Van Wade. Originally, they specialized in landscape trees which still make up a large part of the business. In the 1980's, Wade and his wife, Shirley, started selling hostas on a big scale and today's collection in the display gardens numbers well over 2,000 cultivars. Also on display are many varieties of daylilies and ornamental grasses.

The display gardens (now called the Wade Botanical Gardens) at this nursery are worth the visit even if you don't buy any plants (sure...who can resist?). There is a magnificent hosta garden on a rolling site featuring thousands of cultivars and companion plants. They also have a large display of ornamental grasses and daylilies. Bring your camera (and check book or credit card).

A good day is a visit to this wonderful nursery combined with a stop at nearby Kingwood Center, a beautiful garden open to the public.
