Hosta 'Cherries a la Mode'

Registered by Mike Vasey of Ohio in 2017, this small size (7 inches high by 15 inches wide) cultivar is a sport of H. 'Cherry Tart'. Its leaves are yellow with creamy white marginal variegation. The foliage is lanceolate, slightly wavy and slightly shiny on top. Its petioles have deep, "cherry red" speckles. Medium lavender flowers bloom from June into July on scapes 10 to 12 inches tall. It sets seeds but their viability was undetermined at the time of registration.

The registration materials state: "...Unique sport of H. 'Cherry Tart' with a half-inch wide, creamy white margin...Chartreuse with cream margins turn to yellow leaves with white margins later, especially with sun exposure."
