Hosta 'Chief Sitting Bull'

This large size cultivar, a non-registered seedling selection, is part of Van Wade's American Indian Series of hostas. It forms a mound 18 inches tall by 55 inches wide which blooms in late June.

Sitting Bull was a Chief of the Lakota Sioux tribe of native Americans. He lived from about 1832 to December 15, 1890 and was part of the Battle of the Little Bighorn on June 25, 1876. A U.S. postage stamp (right) was issued bearing his image on September 14, 1989.
