Hosta 'Kiwi Sunshine'

A hybrid of H. 'Sieboldiana' x H. 'Tokudama', this cultivar was registered in 1999 by Barry Sligh of Taunton Gardens in New Zealand as part of his Kiwi Series of hostas. The medium size mound has leaves that emerge yellow gold in color and then turn green as the season progresses. It bears pale purple flowers in late June.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "The parentage listed in The American Hosta Society registration does not correlate with plants I've seen...The number of vein pairs, flowering habits, and foliage character do not reflect what would be expected..."

Similar hostas include H. 'August Moon'.
