This cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Lakeside Black Mama' which was registered in 2004 by Mary Chastain of Lakeside Acres Nursery in Tennessee. It grows into a large size plant about 19 inches high with dark green, very shiny foliage. The leaves cup downward. Deep purple, bell-shaped flowers bloom in June.
