Hosta 'Miss America'

Registered by Hans Hansen of Walters Gardens, Inc. of Michigan in 2018, this cultivar is a seedling of H. 'American Sweetheart Streaked' × H. 'Elatior'. It is a large size hosta about 19 inches high by 55 inches wide with medium green foliage that has a white medial (center) variegation. The leaves are broadly ovate, relatively flat and dull on top. The petioles are also white with green edges. Pale lavender flowers bloom from July into August on scapes 55 to 61 inches tall but it does not set seeds.

The registration materials state: "...Forms a majestic clump with beautiful white centered leaves and wide green margins. Very attractive large lavender flowers top the clump on tall, straight flower stems...near white with lavender pattern in center of each petal."

There is a non-registered cultivar named H. 'Miss AmErica' which we suspect is named to honor someone named Erica. Of course, this might cause some confusion...especially in a database.
