Hosta 'Okefenokee'
 

 

A sport of H. 'Aoki', this cultivar was originated by Walters Gardens, Inc. of Michigan and registered on their behalf by Kevin Walek (Hosta Registrar) in 2009. It is a large size hosta about 27 inches high by 53 inches wide. The leaves are green with a gold colored marginal variegation. They are slightly rippled, ovate, slightly corrugated and have good substance. Pale lavender flowers bloom from mid-July into August.

According to The American Hosta Society registration form the original sport of this plant was given to Dr. Jim Wilkins of Michigan by Walters Gardens, Inc. Mark Zilis in The Hostapedia (2009) says that this plant is "...from Ralph (Herb) Benedict of Michigan..."
